Many cities around the world are currently experiencing serious population growth. In many cases this is due to the national population increasing (through natural increase or migration). Even where the national population is not growing, some cities are still growing due to their attraction to those living in rural areas (for example, Tokyo is still growing despite Japan’s well publicised overall population decline).
