Thank you, Sangguniang Laiko, Missionary Families of Christ, and Project Dalisay for your actions against the consolidated SB No. 1979 of 2023. Prior to consolidation, 3 bills on the same subject matter were filed in 2023.
ALFI submitted its position paper to the Senate in 2023 during the public consultations and hearings. Essentially, ALFI believes that:
- Natural and primary right of parents in rearing their children and developing their moral character should be upheld and guaranteed;
- CSE should be designed as a VALUES-based education program
- Sexuality is not solely about reproductive health and sexual behavior, but how to align sexual behavior and actions with moral values, greater sense of responsibility, integrity and respect for self and others.

SB No. 1979 is currently pending second reading. Sen. Risa Hontiveros delivered the sponsorship speech and interpellations were made by Senators Tolentino, Pimentel and Zubiri on August 24, 2024. Deliberations should continue but no date has been announced yet.
We believe we should continue to communicate our opposition to our legislators by sending our written statements to them or by speaking to them individually. Also, we could collectively act and send a strong message through our VOTES come May!!!
