Dear Dr. Juanillo,
Thank you for your response.
We regret that your letter did not assuage our concerns about the Health Unit-Ateneo Graduate School of Business in Leadership Innovations in Population Management.
While we respect the university's goal of having a "multifaceted discourse" on population concerns, in our view, it would be unlikely for an academic program funded by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation to accomplish such a goal since the Foundation promotes abortion and abortion rights.
The tie-up between the Ateneo and the Packard Foundation could only mean that the university, despite being a Filipino, Catholic and Jesuit university with the motto of Lux in Domino, is treading the path towards joining the ranks of Packard-funded organizations that espouse population control and abortion. It is also very disappointing for us whose members are alumni of the Ateneo or parents of Ateneo students that the Ateneo would contribute towards shaping the cultural mindset of future health leaders who would accept abortion as a means of achieving "population dynamics."
We beg you to review very carefully and judiciously with the Ateneo de Manila Graduate School Administrators the program donor's background and intentions, and whether the tie-up with Packard Foundation would be consistent with the Ateneo's goals.
Thank you very much and we hope to hear from you or the AGSB Board.
